My US Tech Stack

The Tools I Recommend to Founders Building in America.

Banks, payroll platforms, finance systems, tax tools, and operating software I use myself or recommend to Israeli tech companies in the US.

I only list tools I use, have implemented for clients, or would personally feel comfortable recommending.

Some links may be referral links. If I receive a referral benefit, I will say so clearly. It does not change what I recommend.

Start with fewer tools. Add complexity only when the company actually needs it.

If one platform already handles the job well, I don't recommend adding another tool just because it's popular.

Banking

Mercury

MY CHOICE

Best for

Most early-stage and venture-backed startups operating in the US.

Why I recommend it

  • Mercury is my default banking recommendation for startups. I use Mercury for my own businesses, and personally.
  • For an early-stage company, Mercury can often eliminate the need to immediately add separate tools such as Ramp, BILL Pay, or Mesh.
  • You can handle banking, company cards, vendor payments, bill pay, ACH, domestic wires, and USD international wires from one platform.
  • No monthly banking fees for the standard startup use case, a strong and simple interface, and workflows built specifically around startups.
  • Easy to use for founders and finance teams, with a strong ecosystem presence among US startups.

"My recommendation for most startups is to begin with Mercury and avoid adding unnecessary finance tools until the complexity of the company actually requires them."

Payroll & HR

Justworks

MY CHOICE

Best for

US startups that want payroll, benefits, HR support, and PEO infrastructure in one platform.

Alternatives I may recommend depending on the company

  • Rippling
  • Gusto

Why I recommend it

  • Justworks is my preferred payroll and PEO solution for many startups.
  • Excellent customer support and a strong PEO solution with access to competitive employee benefits.
  • Very good integrations and a simple, intuitive interface.
  • Reduces the number of separate HR and payroll vendors a founder needs to manage.

"For a startup hiring employees in the US, I usually prefer solving payroll, benefits, workers' compensation, and HR infrastructure together rather than stitching together multiple vendors."

Accounting System

The Next Generation of Startup Accounting

MY CHOICE

Best for

Venture-backed and founder-led startups that want a modern finance system rather than traditional accounting software.

Why I recommend it

  • Andrew is the accounting and operating platform I am building specifically for startup founders — the next generation of QuickBooks Online for startups.
  • It is designed around the way founders actually run companies, rather than around traditional bookkeeping workflows.
  • Andrew is being built around double-entry accounting, bank transactions, founder financial visibility, bills and payments, reporting, runway, and startup finance workflows.
Learn About Andrew

Disclosure: Andrew is my own product. I built it because I wanted this system to exist.

Numeral logo

Sales Tax

CURRENTLY TESTING

Best for

Startup clients where US sales-tax compliance is becoming a real obligation.

Why I recommend it

  • I have not selected a default sales-tax platform yet. We are currently evaluating Numeral for startup clients.
  • This category will be updated after enough real client experience exists to make a confident recommendation.

"I would rather say 'TBD' than recommend software I haven't tested enough."

Other parts of the US startup stack

Categories where I haven't settled on a default yet — listed so you know what's out there, not to push a pick I can't stand behind yet.

  • Cap Table & Equity

    MY CHOICE

Cap table, equity, and ownership tracking built into Andrew — the same platform I recommend for startup accounting and finance operations.

  • Payments

    COMMON DEFAULT

Stripe is the standard starting point for many software companies accepting payments in the US — SaaS subscriptions, online payments, and customer billing.

  • CRM & Sales

Your CRM should match your sales motion. Early-stage companies usually need something simple enough that the team will actually use it.

  • Security & Compliance

For startups selling to US enterprise customers, security compliance often becomes part of the sales process much earlier than founders expect — SOC 2 and enterprise security readiness.

  • International Hiring

For companies hiring people outside the US, or before creating a local entity.

  • Customer Support

Once customer conversations outgrow a shared inbox, a dedicated support platform keeps response quality high.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure

A lightweight note only — this page is about the business operating stack, not your developers' toolchain.

Not sure what your stack should look like?

The right tools depend on your stage, structure, and where your team sits. I help Israeli founders choose, implement, and connect these systems — and keep the stack as simple as the company allows.
